On November 17, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City has just sent a document to the People's Committees of Thu Duc City, departments and agencies on organizing the second dose against Covid-19 for children aged 12-17 years old. .

Accordingly, the Department of Health said that the time for the second injection will focus on implementation from November 22 to November 28. Subjects are all children aged 12-17 years old living or studying in Ho Chi Minh City who have been vaccinated with the 1st dose for the full time, including children who have been vaccinated with the 1st dose in other provinces and cities.

In addition, the Department of Health suggested localities continue to give the first dose of vaccination to children aged 12-17 years old living or studying in the city who have not been vaccinated in the first phase due to delay in vaccination, who have just been over 12 years old or just agreed to have the injection as well as just returned to Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding the organization, the Department of Health asked the units to review, make statistics on the number and make a list of children of injection age. Sinultaneously, they are in charge of reminding and guiding parents or guardians to provide citizen identification information, personal identification number and permanent address of the child.

For children with permanent residence addresses in other provinces or cities without citizen identification, the commune-level police shall guide and assist people in receiving notices that identify individuals, or take appropriate measures to deal with them. If not provided in time, but personal identification when making the vaccination list.

According to the Center for Disease Control of Ho Chi Minh City (HCDC), the city has completed the 1st dose of COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 12-17 years old in the area. A total of 701,820 children in this age group received the first dose.

The city recorded 54 children with normal mild reactions after injection, not recorded serious cases.

The campaign to vaccinate against COVID-19 for children aged 12-17 in Ho Chi Minh City starts from October 27 and ends on November 8. The campaign was deployed in all 21 districts and Thu Duc city with 509 vaccination points for school children and 68 vaccination points for children not in school.

In the second phase, the city will give priority to the 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 16-17 years old and gradually roll it to a younger age. It is expected that the city will complete immunization for children by the end of November 2021.
