No vaccination needed for children under 12 years old traveling to Vietnam

On February 26, 2022, the Ministry of Health issued Official Letter 920/BYT-DP giving opinions on the draft plan for reopening tourism activities under new normal conditions.

For tourists under 12 years old entering Vietnam, the Ministry of Health proposes the following requirements for epidemic prevention and control:

- It is not required to have a certificate of vaccination (including children who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of vaccine against COVID-19) before entering Vietnam to travel with parents and relatives. Children who have been vaccinated or have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 should take measures to prevent epidemics and test for SARS-CoV-2 (except for children under 2 years old) as for travelers aged 12 and over. guided in Section 3.1.

- Children who have not been vaccinated or vaccinated with insufficient doses of vaccine or have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2: must not leave the accommodation within the first 24 hours (from the time of entry).

If you need to leave the accommodation 24 hours after entry, you will need to have a daily continuous test (rapid antigen test or PCR) within 7 days (except for children under 2 years old) before leaving the place of residence. stay, at the same time continue to strictly implement self-monitoring of health until 10 days are completed and regularly implement the 5K recommendation.

In addition, children under the age of 2 are not required to be tested and are allowed to participate in activities outside with their parents and relatives, even though they have not been vaccinated or have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and regularly implement epidemic prevention measures as prescribed.
