Punishment for concealing behavior and not denouncing counterfeit money makers

Article 389 of the Penal Code 2015, amended in 2017, those who, without prior promises, conceal their acts of making, storing, transporting or circulating counterfeit money, shall be subject to non-custodial reform for up to 3 years or a prison term of from 06 months to 05 years.

Abusing the position and power to obstruct the detection of crimes or commit other acts to cover up offenders shall be sentenced to between two and seven years of imprisonment.

In addition, if it is clear that the crime of making, storing, transporting or circulating counterfeit money is being prepared, is or has been carried out, but do not denounce it, according to Article 390 of the 2015 Penal Code, as amended in 2017, this person may be subject to a warning, non-custodial reform for up to 3 years or a prison term of between 6 months and 3 years.

In addition, those who do not denounce but  have taken action to dissuade the offender or limit the harm of the crime may be exempt from criminal liability or from punishment.
