03 home treatments for Covid-19 patients

On August 25, 2021, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued  Dispatch 6002/SYT-NVY updating "Instructions on home health care packages for F0 people" (version 1.4)

Subjects of application are COVID-19 patients (F0) who have a positive RT-PCR test or antigen rapid test, detected in a community eligible for home isolation according to regulations.

Accordingly, in this Official Letter, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City has divided Covid-19 treatments at home into 03 packages: Package A is common drugs including antipyretic and health-enhancing drugs; Package B is limited use drugs in some special situations including anti-inflammatory drugs and anticoagulants; Packet C is an antiviral, specially controlled.

* PACK OF MEDICINE A (used for 07 days)

1. Paracetamol 500mg: Take 1 tablet when fever is above 38.5°C, can be repeated every 4 to 6 hours if fever is still present.

2. Types of vitamins (vitamins, multivitamins or vitamins C): Take 2 times a day: 1 tablet in the morning, 1 in the afternoon.

* PACK OF MEDICINE B (used for 3 days)

If you feel short of breath (resting rate over 20 breaths/minute or SpO2 measurement below 95%), you must CONTACT your doctor IMMEDIATELY for assistance. If you have not been able to contact the doctor, you can take more anti-inflammatory drugs (drug number 3) and anticoagulant (drug number 4), taking it yourself for NO MORE than 03 DAYS.

During this time, you need to CONTINUE CONTACT the doctor for support, depending on your health condition, the doctor will decide to continue taking these drugs or not.

3. Dexamethasone 0.5mg

Drink once a day: 12 tablets in the morning after meals (equivalent to 06 mg/day).

OR Methylprednisolone 16mg: Take 2 times a day: 1 tablet in the morning, 1 tablet in the afternoon after eating (equivalent to 32 mg/day).

OR Prednisolone 5mg: Take once a day: 08 tablets in the morning after meals (equivalent to 40 mg/day).

4. Rivaroxaban 10mg: Take 1 time a day: 1 tablet in the morning.

OR Apixaban 2.5 mg: Take 2 times a day: 1 tablet in the morning, 1 tablet in the afternoon.

OR Dabigatran 110 mg: Take 2 times a day: 1 tablet in the morning, 1 tablet in the afternoon.

Note: Drugs No. 3 and No. 4 are NOT used in the following cases: Pregnant women and lactating women, people with one of the following diseases: peptic ulcer, liver failure, kidney failure, diseases that easily cause bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract and other diseases that easily cause bleeding.

* PACK OF DRUG C (used for 5 days)

This is an antiviral drug indicated for mild symptoms of F0, which is provided by the Ministry of Health under the Controlled Community Intervention Program. Please sign the Commitment to use the drug to be dispensed and used.

5. Molnupiravir 200mg tablet or 400mg tablet

Take twice a day: 800mg in the morning, 800mg in the afternoon, take it for 5 consecutive days.

Note: According to the Ministry of Health, patients who are using Molnupiravir, if they need to take anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant drugs according to the above instructions, STOP using Molnupiravir.
